The plan calls for 4,545 square metres of rock and armour stone infill into our tidal harbour, replacing open pilings with a solid wall of stone, permanently altering tidal flow and reshaping the heart of our historic waterfront.<\/p><p>Promoted as a <a href=\"https:\/\/standrewswharf.com\/?p=1706\">\u201chybrid\u201d upgrade<\/a>, the $7.8-million project will extend Market Square, but at the cost of blocking natural tidal movement, damaging marine habitat, and replacing the open, heritage-style approach with an industrial-style shoreline. Similar infill at nearby locations has already caused erosion, flooding, and debris buildup on neighbouring properties.
